How to get a job as a tourist in Bangkok
A tourist in Thailand can earn more than $300,000 per year in New York, according to a study released Tuesday.
The study by research firm PwC estimates the annual income of foreigners living in New Jersey, Florida, Virginia, California, and New York.
The study also estimates that foreign visitors to the United States will earn an average of $1.5 million annually by the end of 2020.
“The U.S. is the largest exporter of tourists in the world, but it has a long way to go to compete with the number of tourists coming to the U.K. and other European destinations,” said James Staley, senior vice president at PwB.
“New York, Florida and California are among the top five tourist destinations in the U, and those are destinations where most tourists are coming for vacation.”
New York has more than 25 million tourists a year.
That’s up from 8.7 million in 2013, the last year before the Great Recession.
The state also has the third highest number of foreign-born residents in the country, after New Jersey and California.
“When people are choosing to come to the US for a holiday, they are not choosing to stay at a home for the duration of the trip,” said John Jansen, a PwA senior vice-president and an expert on the economy.
“They are choosing a vacation spot to spend the majority of their time and money.”
New Jersey and Florida were among the states that saw the largest influx of foreign tourists in 2017, with New York seeing nearly 4.5 percent of the total foreign arrivals.
The U.k. saw nearly a quarter of its foreign visitors come to New Jersey.
