São Fe tourism to be boosted by tourism boost from Saudi Arabia
São fe, Brazil, Jan. 19 (UPI) — Brazil’s tourism industry will see a boost from the arrival of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman in the country, the country’s Tourism Ministry said.
The Tourism Ministry announced Tuesday it has launched a special campaign to support Saudi Arabia, a country that’s the largest in the Middle East, with a strong tourism industry.
Saudi Arabia has welcomed the king and his family, which have been visiting São Paulo, with an estimated 10 million visitors in the past year.
The country also plans to host the royal wedding, and is planning to create a special economic zone that would allow Saudi visitors to access tourism attractions.
The Saudi king and the crown prince are expected to meet with President Michel Temer, who is taking office in the coming weeks, the ministry said.
The visit will be the first by a Saudi king to Brazil since the kingdom began allowing its citizens to travel outside of its borders in the 1970s.
