Connecticut tourism to reach $2.4B in 2017
The number of Connecticut tourists visiting the state increased by 2.4 percent to $2,428,918, according to the state’s Tourism Infrastructure Finance Authority.
Travelers made up 25 percent of the $2 billion total.
The number rose to 2.2 percent from 2.1 percent a year earlier.
The tourism agency said the number of visitors will increase to 2,500,000 in 2021 and to 2 million in 2024.
Travel spending is expected to grow by another 6.7 percent to a record $11.5 billion.
The state is also planning to spend $200 million to build a new museum and $100 million to buy new state parks.
