The Latest: L.A. tourists plan to travel to Samoa amid deadly earthquake

LAS VEGAS — The Latest on the deadly earthquake in Samoa (all times local):9:45 p.m.

A magnitude-6.1 earthquake struck near the village of Tana, killing at least two people and injuring dozens more, according to authorities in the Pacific Island nation.

Authorities in Samoa say more than 200,000 people are affected, including the thousands who live in temporary shelters in the capital, Manoa.

A report by the U.S. Geological Survey said the tremor hit around 8:15 p.ms. on Friday.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said the earthquake caused damage to houses and buildings.
